Guruvayoor temple celebrates some religious festivals which are closely related with the religious beliefs of the people. The main fairs and festivals of Guruvayoor temple are :
Ekadasi
Guruvayoor enlivens when the Guruvayoor Ekadasi is celebrated. Before one month of the Ekadasi day, the Ekadasi Vilakku begins in which the offerings are made by the people. Legend says, Lord Vishnu once utters the cry Ekadasi wishing to save the sinned souls. People have a belief that sins are washed away if one has a Darshan of the Ekadasi Vilakku. The temple is opened for two days; people can offer their prayers to Lord Vishnu.

Chembai Music Festival
The Chembai Music Festival is a two weeks long festival held in respect to Chembai Vaidyanatha Bhagavathar once in a year. This festival is related with the Guruvayoor Ekadasi. Musicians from all over kerala as well the country comes to this festival. Vocal as well as instrumental performances are held. Music concerts are held in the last ten days of the festival. This is great musical extravaganza in Kerala. The temple authorities provide free food and accommodation to the participants.
Krishnanattom
A unique art form of Kerala is performed as an offering to the Lord in the Guruvayoor temple. It is a dance drama tells the life of Lord Krishna. This is the only classical dance in Kerala in which colorful masks are worn by the artistes. The performance consists of eight episodes. Music and dance are the main souls of the Krishnanattom. People have a belief that if one makes offerings to the performances his or her wishes are to be fulfilled by Lord.
