Christmas is undoubtedly the most significant and vibrant festivals of the Christian all over the world. The Kerala Christian people also celebrate this festival to mark the birth of Jesus Christ with great pomp and show.
The preparations for Christmas include Christmas Star, Christmas tree, the Crib, Christmas Carol, Christmas cake, Christmas presents and the Christmas Father. The Churches and all Christian families celebrate Christmas. All homes and Churches are decorated with Christmas star which symbolizes the Babe of Bethlehem.
The Christmas tree is newly added to the Christmas celebration in Kerala. The crib of the Christmas celebration symbolizes the stable where Christ was born. Carols and songs derived from earlier plays are cheerful features of the festival. A large crowd takes part in the Midnight Mass in the Church. Just before the Midnight Mass, rows of children hold the lighted candles and then the priest brings an image of a child. Crackers are explored and all sing a hymn 'Gloria in exelcis Deo'. A grand feast is arranged at the Church during the time of celebration of Christmas.
