Deepavali, a festival of light is celebrated in Kerala along with India. It is a festival of the Hindus and falls in the month of October or November on the preceding day of the New Moon in the Malayalam month Thulam. This festival marks the victory of Lord Krishna over the demon Narakasura. The people of Dwaraka greets Krishna with illumination of light and joy when comes back defeating Narakasura. There is also a myth related to this festival. Lord Rama comes back to Ayodhya after defeating Ravana who abducts his wife Sita.
Deepavali is a festival of joy and victory. Hindus celebrate this festival with great vibe and color. On the day of Deepavali, people have their oil bath before sunrise and wear new clothes. Sweets are served. People visit friends and relatives. Display of crackers and fireworks mark this festival.
