Alapuzzha Krishnapuram Palace and Museum

The Krishnapuram Palace, a monument comes sunder the Dept of Archaeology, is a worthvisiitng museum in Kerala. It is located in close proximity to the Krishnaswamy Temple at Krishnapuram in Alapuzzha district. Krishnapuram Palace dates back to the period of Anizham Thirunal Marthanda Varma (1729-1758 AD). It displays typical features of Kerala architecture with characteristics like the gabled roofs, narrow corridors, dorm windows, closed roofs and many more.

The palace is known for its largest single panel Mural paintings which have been discovered in Kerala known as ‘Gajendra Moksha’. A museum is housed in this palace which displays stone and wood sculptures, bronzes, copies of Mural paintings, coins, megalithic remains, stone inscription, etc.  

While visiting this museum please keep in mind that photography is prohibited.
